Thursday, October 8th - Erikson's assignment:
You are a child psychologist. A couple has come to your office and explains that their child, born a male biologically, has always tended to express feminine gender traits. The parents have come to you to inquire how they can best support and honour their child's choice to express their gender in this way. As an expert in the field, you look to Erik Erikson's 8 stages of psychosocial development to help guide the parents.
Task: You select 3 of Erikson's stages and offer advice as to how to support the child as she progresses through life into adulthood. For each stage, anticipate at least 1 life experience (e.g., in school, at social/sporting events) where she may need help and/or guidance to succeed (YOU provide that guidance to the parents)
